The Prinz Salm, owned by the Princes of Salm-Salm, is Germany’s oldest family-owned winery. Eight hundred years, 32 generations of unbroken wine and family tradition are represented in it.T

Responsible for the wines and the reputation of the castle are brothers Prince Constantine and Prince Felix. Prince Felix studied enology in Geisenheim and tends to the vineyards while Prince Constantine handles the sales and marketing of the business.

Paramount for both brothers is respecting nature, and thus the vineyard is organic. Only hand selected grapes are allowed on the winepress and into the cellar. During vinification, they rely on classical methods and modern winemaking technology. The ancient brick vaulted cellar of green slate ensures cool temperatures for fermentation – and later for a long, uninterrupted period of storage.
